Barber Vintage Festival October 10-12 2014

Is this sweet looking 1959 Dragster

A competition bike with real history. 

It was built by Gordon Stewart in Miami 

Florida in 1960. 

It won the Florida Drag Racing Championship in the day and was raced by the present owner for 9 years and put away.

How low can you go!! This has got to be one of the coolest bikes ever, this man builds are displays of engineering skill and thinking way outside the box

'ED TURNER down under update

News from the boys at Lowbrow that the previously featured Phil Eggleston has bagged a couple of records at the Australian home of dry lake racing: Lake Gairdner in South Australia 
#9850 133.856MPH in the A/PG1000 class
as well as
 #850 126MPH in the APS/PG1000 class

A/PG1000 being the special construction,up to 1000cc push rod engine : gasoline class

APS/PG1000 being the partially streamlined special construction.
Which was the bikes set up in the previously featured pictures albeit running in the 750 class so I guess some work has taken place since last year!

Got up close to the Baron's Salt Racer.
What a fine build it is( no secret here I'm a big fan of Dick's work!!) and a record breaker to boot! I was particularly taken by the large SU carb and remote float bowl set-up(pics to follow)

Only 3 days in and Tyler from Lowbrow Customs and his bike Double Vision are having a Speedweek people dream of

That is the smile of a man who backed up a 136.073 mph qualifying run with  145.009 mph to set a new record of 140.21 mph (up from the previous 128 and then ....

 He gets to sit in the Gyronaut X-1 & shoots the breeze with Bob Leppan ...

.. then his third run earns him a class C license and another night in impound with a 151.4 mph run

yes it really does say 151.4
